Short Note on Asparaginase Erwinia Chrysanthemi

Asparaginase Erwinia Chrysanthemi, also known as Erwinase, is a medication used in the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).  It belongs to the class of drugs called asparagine-specific enzyme.

Erwinase is derived from the bacterium Erwinia chrysanthemi and works by breaking down the amino acid called asparagine in the body. This is important because cancer cells, particularly leukemia cells, require asparagine to grow and survive. By depleting the levels of asparagine, Erwinase helps to inhibit the growth of cancer cells and slows down the progression of the disease.
