Amsacrine (Toxic Effects in Humans- 6)

In this article we will discuss Amsacrine (Toxic Effects in Humans- 6)

In this article, we will discuss Amsacrine (Toxic Effects in Humans- 6). So, let’s get started.

Eighty-two cases of amsacrine-associated cardiotoxicity were observed among over
6000 patients in phase II studies who had received amsacrine up until 1986, giving a
total incidence of just over 1%. The more common effects were alterations in the electro-cardiogram and arrhythmia, but cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure also occurred (Weiss et al., 1986). Amsacrine has been used safely in patients with pre-existing arrhythmia when a serum potassium concentration of > 4 mmol/L was maintained (Arlin et al., 1991).
