Here are some examples of drug interactions that can occur with topotecan:

Other Chemotherapies:

  • Cyclophosphamide: Combining topotecan with cyclophosphamide can increase the risk of bleeding.
  • Taxanes: Using topotecan with taxanes (such as paclitaxel or docetaxel) can increase the risk of nerve damage.

Antibiotics:

Fluoroquinolones: Taking topotecan with fluoroquinolones (such as ciprofloxacin or levofloxacin) can increase the risk of heart problems.

Blood Thinners:

Warfarin: Using topotecan with warfarin can increase the risk of bleeding.

Other Medications:

  • Potassium-lowering medications: Taking topotecan with medications that lower potassium levels (such as diuretics) can increase the risk of heart problems.
  • Grapefruit juice: Consuming grapefruit juice while taking topotecan can increase the blood levels of the drug, potentially leading to side effects.
