Brentuximab vedotin (Working)

Brentuximab vedotin is a targeted therapy used to treat Hodgkin lymphoma and anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL). It’s an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) that combines an antibody that targets CD30, a protein found on the surface of cancer cells, with a potent anti-cancer drug called vedotin.

Working:

  • Target recognition: The antibody component of brentuximab vedotin binds to CD30 on the surface of cancer cells.
  • Internalization: The antibody-drug complex is internalized into the cancer cell.
  • Drug release: Inside the cancer cell, the linker molecule releases the vedotin drug.
  • Cell death: Vedotin is a potent cytotoxic drug that can kill cancer cells by interfering with their ability to make proteins.
