Eszopiclone (Warnings and Precautions)

Eszopiclone (Warnings and Precautions)

  • Dependency: There is a potential for dependency with prolonged use, so it is generally prescribed for short-term use. Gradual dose reduction is recommended to avoid withdrawal symptoms.
  • Interactions: Eszopiclone can interact with other central nervous system depressants (like alcohol) and may enhance their sedative effects,
  • increasing the risk of severe drowsiness, respiratory depression, and other adverse effects.
  • Use in Special Populations: It should be used with caution in older adults, as they may be more sensitive to its effects, and in those with liver impairment, as the drug is metabolized by the liver.
