Vitamins and Pleural Mesothelioma (1)

Pleural mesothelioma is a type of cancer that affects the pleura, the thin tissue lining the lungs and chest cavity. It is primarily caused by exposure to asbestos fibers. While vitamins alone cannot prevent or cure pleural mesothelioma, they play a supportive role in the overall health and well-being of patients undergoing treatment.

Vitamin A
Role: Essential for immune function, vision, and cellular communication.
Potential Benefits: Vitamin A has been studied for its role in maintaining the health of the respiratory tract and its potential anti-cancer properties. Retinoids, derivatives of vitamin A, are being researched for their ability to inhibit cancer cell growth.
Sources: Carrots, sweet potatoes, spinach, and liver.

Vitamin C
Role: Important for the immune system, skin health, and antioxidant protection.
Potential Benefits: Vitamin C can help boost the immune system and improve overall health. Its antioxidant properties help combat oxidative stress, which is elevated in cancer patients.
Sources: Citrus fruits, strawberries, bell peppers, and broccoli.
