Sonrotoclax (Beqalzi) Approved as New Treatment for Relapsed Mantle Cell Lymphoma

Sonrotoclax is a next-generation BCL2 inhibitor. BeOne Medicines developed it. The drug carries the brand name Beqalzi.

The FDA granted it accelerated approval in May 2026. Doctors can now use it for relapsed or refractory mantle cell lymphoma. Patients must have already received at least two earlier treatments, including a BTK inhibitor.

Sonrotoclax binds BCL2 more strongly than venetoclax. It also shows greater selectivity. As a result, it may produce fewer certain side effects.

China has already approved the medicine for mantle cell lymphoma and some cases of CLL or SLL. Researchers continue to test it in combination with other drugs, especially zanubrutinib.

This treatment belongs to a class that helps cancer cells die by blocking a survival protein. Specialists must monitor patients closely because of possible blood-count changes and tumor lysis risk.
