Trihexyphenidyl

Trihexyphenidyl is a medication primarily used to treat Parkinson’s disease and tremors associated with other conditions. It works by blocking certain nerve signals in the brain that cause these movements.

Common Uses

  • Parkinson’s disease: To help control tremors, rigidity, and muscle spasms.
  • Drug-induced parkinsonism: To manage side effects caused by certain antipsychotic medications.
  • Essential tremor: To reduce shaking in the hands, arms, head, or voice.

Side Effects

Like most medications, trihexyphenidyl can cause side effects. Some common ones include:

  • Dry mouth
  • Blurred vision
  • Constipation
  • Drowsiness
  • Difficulty urinating
