Valproic Acid (Mechanism of Action)

Valproic Acid (Mechanism of Action)

  • Increases GABA Levels: Valproic acid increases the levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain, which helps to stabilize neuronal activity and prevent seizures.
  • Modulates Sodium Channels: It also affects sodium channels, which play a role in the initiation and propagation of electrical signals in neurons.
