Peroneus brevis muscle
It originates from the lower 2/3rd of lateral surface of body of fibula and adjacent intermuscular septum and gets inserted into the lateral surface of tuberosity of base of fifth metatarsal bone. It is innervated by the peroneal nerve and artery supply is through the peroneal artery. It’s chief action is plantar flexion and eversion of foot. Clinically, fracture of base of fifth metatarsal associated with dislocation of proximal fragment of bone due to peroneus brevis muscle pull is popularly known as Jones fracture.
