Gracilis muscle

It originates from by an aponeurosis from the anterior margin of lower half of the pubic symphysis and upper half of the pubic arch and gets inserted into the upper part of the medial surface of body of tibia, below the condyle (pes ansernius). It is innervated by the anterior branch of obturator nerve and artery supply is through the medial circumflex femoral artery. It’s chief action is flexion, medial rotation and adduction of hip and also helps in flexion of knee. Clinically it is used in reconstructive surgery (graciloplasty) either as a pedical flap or as a microsurgical flap.
