Understanding Pleurisy

Pleurisy is inflammation of the pleura, the lining surrounding the lungs. This condition can cause sharp chest pain, especially when breathing or coughing.
Causes:
  • Infections (viral, bacterial, or fungal)
  • Pneumonia
  • Lung cancer
  • Pulmonary embolism
  • Autoimmune disorders
Symptoms:
  • Sharp chest pain
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Coughing
