Narcissistic Personality Disorder

Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is a mental health condition characterized by an inflated sense of self-importance, a need for excessive admiration, and a lack of empathy for others. Individuals with NPD often believe they are superior to others and expect special treatment.

Key Characteristics of NPD:

  • Exaggerated sense of self-importance: They often believe they are special and unique and that only special people can understand them.
  • Need for excessive admiration: They crave praise and attention and may become upset when they don’t receive it.
  • Lack of empathy: They have difficulty understanding or caring about the feelings of others.
  • Envy and arrogance: They may be envious of others or believe others are envious of them, and they often exhibit arrogant behavior.
  • Exploitative: They may take advantage of others to achieve their own ends.
  • Sense of entitlement: They believe they are entitled to special treatment and expect others to meet their needs.
  • Interpersonal relationships: They often have strained relationships with others due to their demanding and exploitative behavior.
  • Difficulty handling criticism: They may become defensive or angry when criticized.
