Symptoms

The incubation period ranges from 8-14 weeks. Symptoms vary depending upon the parasite (tapeworm) responsible for the infection. Pork tapeworm, Beef tapeworm, and Asian tapeworm are common. Taeniasis is contacted after eating undercooked beef and pork which usually contains the larvae. Usually patient remains asymptomatic; however, in severe cases symptoms are present. Symptoms include:

Abdominal pain

Anemia (Low-eosinophilic level)

Indigestion

Dementia

Lesion in the brain

Headache

Dizziness

Blindness

Hypertension

Seizures

Tumor like outgrowths

Unexplained weight loss

Constipation or Diarrhea

Nausea

Anorexia
