Symptoms

Fever

Chills

Dull or sharp pain in the upper quadrant of abdomen

Malaise

Icteric or yellowish discoloration of skin and sclera (eyes)

Nausea

Vomiting

Dark urine

Pale stools

The first three symptoms are combinedly termed as Charcot’s triad and worsening cholangitis or severe cholangitis is characterized by Reynolds pentad which includes Charcot’s triad in combination with septic shock (sepsis) and mental confusion.
