In Physiotherapy generally we don’t use the word Drugs because its not our Mode of Treatment but we study about various drugs during our curriculum. So, i will be posting articles on various classes of drugs in order to make my readers knowledgeable and aware. In this article we will discuss about “CORTICOSTEROIDS” especially “GLUCOCORTICOIDS”.
Corticosteroids are a class of steroidal hormones that are produced in the adrenal cortex naturally, as well as the synthetic analogues of these hormones. Two main classes of corticosteroids, glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoid, are involved in a wide range of physiological processes, including stress response, immune reactions, and regulation of inflammation, carbohydrate and protein metabolism , blood electrolytes levels, and psychological behaviour.
