My mother is suffering with them since childhood, gone through several surgeries. They are horrible to have. A great post as usual.

Yes, I took her to the nephrologist here in Wisconsin the top of the line doc. He finally figured it out after having her 3 24 hours urine collection she had excessive calsium.
They operate and got rid of her 2 parathyroid gland. But the damage has already been done and she has CKD 3.
so did the operation resulted in some relief or still she gets acute exacerbations or episodes of intense pain
No she is a lot better
